I have been teaching at Kalaheo School for 13 years now.  I previously taught at Kekaha for 5 years and Eleele for 3 years.  I actually went to school at Kalaheo when I was growing up, from K through 8th grade, then moved on to Waimea High School where my dad was the counselor at the time.    After that, I made the big trek out to Grinnell College in Iowa where I got my teaching and art history degree. I studied for one of those semesters in England and France.  For my MA, I did the Heritage College(now called Ganzaga University) program on island.  All of my relatives live in Hawaii or California.  My family on island has been here for many years.  My mom was born on Maui and my dad moved here in the 50s.  My parents, brother and sister still live in Lawai where I grew up, and one of my sisters lives in Mililani.   At home, I have 4 cats that are extended members of my family.  They are abandoned animals that we found.  I have many hobbies and am never bored.  Though I'm quite busy taking car of my 2 kids and husband, I love to garden, sew, do crafts, read, paint, cook, and keep up with the news.  I belong to numerous political and environmental groups that are concerned about green jobs, endangered animals, the environment,  global warming, and human rights.  My goal for my first graders is to help them become productive and respectful world citizens.
