Transportation
Did you know the average food product travels about 1,500 miles to get to your local grocery store? Food travels on trucks, planes and boats to get from the farm to you. Transporting this food means a lot of wasted gas. All this transporting is also bad for our environment because it creates 30,800 tons of greenhouse gas emissions every year. Kalaheo School robotics club wants to tackle this problem. We want you to buy your produce locally instead of wasting gas and damaging the environment. So, we are creating a fruit stand map of Kauai. We will identify the locations of fruit stands all over the island so you can easily find a local source of fruits and vegetables. You can help. Send us an email at kauaifruitstands@gmail.com to tell us the location of your favorite fruit stands. Keep an eye out for our map, and please buy local fruits and vegetables.
