Kalaheo School Song
Words by Mrs. Sachiko Grollman
Sung to the tune of "It's a Small World"

"It's a place of joy and learning.
It's a place of growth and full promise
It's a place where rainbows arch and embrace.
 Together we will strive.
 Kalaheo School, we care.
 Kalaheo School, we share.
Kalaheo School we love for our glorious paths tomorrow."

Aloha Kalaheo Ohana,
Mahalo for the many years of support I received as Principal of Kalaheo Elementary School. It was an honor to serve this fantastic community and a blessing to raise my children in your midst.  I have always believed much of what our children learn is not "taught, but caught,"  and I know my three children caught many of their life long values from growing up in Kalaheo and attending our school.  I also want to thank all of our stakeholders (community, staff, faculty, parents, and students) for all the lessons I learned and values I now hold from working side by side with each of you.
I will miss all of you, but in truth I will miss the children the most.  In the nearly nineteen years as Principal, I never met two students that were the same. Each one was an individual with their own dreams, talents and growth areas.  I wish I could express how much fun it was every day watching them develop and flourish in their special way. I consider every minute of time spent with them a gift from God, and I will always  be grateful.
After thirty one years in the Department of Education, it's time for me to move on to my next phase in life. I am super excited about the future and can't wait to get started.  It's also time for a new leader here at Kalaheo School.  I look forward to the great achievements you will all accomplish together.  I will be watching (from not too far away), celebrating and cheering you on.
Love you all,
Erik Burkman

Principal's Message

Dear Parents/Guardians,

Welcome back to Kalaheo School! On behalf of the faculty and staff I want to share how excited everyone is to have the kids back in school. Summer is a great time for camping, going to the beach, visiting friends and family on vacation and free time to learn and explore new things, but here school gets boring after a while without the children. They are the heartbeat of our school and the only reason we exist.

There were a lot of improvements to our campus while you were away. Kato Gym received a new roof and will have rain gutters installed; B building was also fitted with a new roof and a lot of termite damage repair. Portables P-2 and P-3 have a new covered porch and the walkway from the library to A building has a new roof as well. The conversion to solar power is moving along. The final punch list is being completed and we are hoping to turn over to solar power soon. Thank you for your patience these past few years during the continuous construction improvement projects. Soon our grass will be back and our campus will be in top shape again.

Please thank all of these Kalaheo School servants when you see them. Mahalo for sending your children to Kalaheo School. We are honored to partner with you in their development through formal education. Let's make this one of the best years ever!

 Sincerely, Erik Burkman
