What are we doing in the school?

Battle of the Books
This optional reading incentive program is open to students 3rd-5th grades. Participants will read from a list of 30 books and come together in teams to test their knowledge at our very own battle at the end of the school year.
Please visit to learn more. Make sure your students sign up; they will not want to miss out!

Great Artist Program
This program was brought to Kalaheo School by the PTSA starting school year 2012-2013 and was a great success. Parents, teachers, and students all have  high praise for the program which involves both art education and hands on art creation. It is run by parent volunteers, who give about 1 hour a month to give a lesson on a famous artist. All supplies and a teaching outline is provided, along with other supplemental help including a DVD. Easy for any adult to teach regardless of art ability. Volunteers sign up to teach 6 classes over the course of the school year. Please let contact us if you would like to help!

HI-5 Recycling
Kalaheo School promotes recycling efforts. We collect HI-5 recycling out in the front of our school. We have recycling Mondays were the students are encouraged to wear their recycling t-shirts or Kalaheo Recycles green wristbands.
We encourage the recycling efforts for both education purposes, and to bring in funds for the PTSA. Each year we enter into recycling contests and have won thousands of dollars for our school this way. Please contact us if you would like to help with this program!

The National PTA Reflections program is PTA’s cornerstone arts program. It was developed in 1969 by Colorado’s PTA President Mary Lou Anderson to encourage students to explore their talents and express themselves. Since then, the Reflections Program has inspired millions of students to reflect on a specific theme and create original artwork. Each year, students in Grades Pre-K through 12 are recognized for bringing the theme to life through dance choreography, film production, literature, music composition, photography and visual arts. This program runs in the fall every year. The students can win prizes on a school, state, and national level. Watch for more information on entering!

Reflections School Year 2015-2016
This year’s entries should reflect upon and interpret the theme: " Let your imagination fly"

Our PTSA supports a variety of fundraising opportunities at our school.

We have been collecting Box Tops for education for the last few years, and are currently accepting your Box Tops! There are two collection dates during the school year, and we have a friendly class competition with a reward for the class who collects the most!

My Coke Rewards points can now be donated to our school! You can enter codes into your own My Coke Rewards account and donate them to Kalaheo School in any amount. You can also bring in your unused codes to turn in and let us enter them directly to our account. They have updated their rewards program, and now your points are donated to the school in CASH!

We usually do two Scholastic book fairs each school year. One in the Fall, supports PTSA directly. The other in the Spring goes directly to new books and materials in the library.

PTSA does all this and plays many more supportive roles to different events and activities throughout the year. Your help as a parent, grandparent, or willing adult can make a difference no matter how much time you have to give. If you are interested in helping we can find the right fit for you, please contact us today!

Kalaheo School PTSA | Promote Your Page Too

We are in need of parent or grandparent volunteers to help keep our PTSA running! We have many wonderful PTSA programs that are running in and benefiting the students at Kalaheo School. We can not continue all of them without support from the parents of the student population.

There are many spots to be filled for the coming school year, 2015-2016. Box Tops, Great Artist, Battle of the Books, Reflections, Recycling, Safe Routes To School, Walking School Bus, Book Fair and more!

We also have many board positions that will need to filled. Please consider helping. If you think you don't know how to help in an area you are interested in, please contact us. The current volunteers would love some help, and you can learn directly from them while they complete their tasks.
